Putin Anticipates Visiting India by End of Year
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin is anticipated to visit India before the year ends for the yearly summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday.
Lavrov shared this update during a joint press briefing with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who was on an official trip to Moscow. Later that day, Putin met with Jaishankar at the Kremlin.
The forthcoming summit between the leaders of India and Russia is expected to enhance their bilateral relationship amid complicated geopolitical circumstances, according to the foreign ministers.
“Today we discussed upcoming events within the framework of this dialogue, including preparations for the visit of the Russian president to India by the end of this year,” Lavrov stated.
“We have plans to prepare a solid package of documents for this summit,” he added.
The senior Russian diplomat also highlighted that bilateral trade grew by 15% last year, marking “an absolute record in the post-Soviet history of relations between Moscow and New Delhi.”
During his remarks in Moscow, Jaishankar underscored the growing economic cooperation between the two nations and their “shared ambition to expand bilateral trade in a balanced and sustainable manner.”
