Veteran-owned Clearwater design-build contractor is among 95 statewide finalists; the 50 honorees will be announced in October.

Finalist companies are recognized for strong leadership, innovation, growth potential, and meaningful contributions to their communities, industries, and Florida's economy.

The GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Awards, made possible through the support of Nperspective CFO & Strategic Services, celebrates privately held second-stage companies that are helping strengthen and diversify Florida's economy.

This year, more than 500 companies were nominated for the GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Awards. Following the nomination and application process, 95 finalists were selected to move forward in the judging process, reflecting the strength, innovation, and impact of Florida's second-stage business community.

To be considered, companies must be headquartered in Florida, employ six to 150 full-time equivalent employees, generate $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue or working capital, and demonstrate both the intent and capacity to grow.

Since its founding in 2022 by U.S. Army combat veteran Matt Thompson, a licensed general contractor since 2007 (originally in California) with more than 30 years in the trades, Construction Corps has grown from a standing start to approximately $8 million in annual revenue by 2025 while building a W-2 field workforce and in-house staff spanning engineering, design, estimating, project management, and operations. The company is co-owned and led by Matt and his wife, Vice President Serena Lorien, with Director of Construction George Thompson leading field operations. Construction Corps holds six Florida licenses in-house (general contracting, engineering, electrical, plumbing, mold remediation, and mold assessment), allowing the company to self-perform work most general contractors subcontract out, and serves residential, commercial, and government clients across the Tampa Bay area. The company holds active SBA certifications as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) and is registered for federal contracting. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Construction Corps volunteered demolition, construction, and mold remediation help across the local community and loaned tens of thousands of dollars of drying-out equipment to people in need.

Companies are evaluated on growth, innovation, response to adversity, community involvement, and overall impact on Florida's economy.

The 50 honorees will be announced in October and celebrated at the 16th Annual GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Awards Gala on Friday, February 26, 2027, at Hard Rock Live, Universal CityWalk in Orlando.
